Loo Niva and Patan CBR jointly conducted a Local Advocacy and Monitoring Committee (LAMC) Refresher Training at Unity Food Cafe, Chapagaun Dobato. The event was organized on "local governance planning, budgeting and child protection". Altogether 22 people including 13 LAMC members and 9 youth volunteers participated in the refresher training. The primary objectives included strengthening LAMC members' coordination with ward offices and other stakeholders, enhancing advocacy skills, improving understanding of planning processes and governance systems, and updating the advocacy plan for 2024.
Mr. Shambhu Gole, social mobilizer, Patan CBR, moderated the event. Mr. Krishna Govinda Maharjan, Program Coordinator, Loo Niva, delivered the welcome remarks, outlining the key objectives. Mr. Ashok Bista conducted a comprehensive session on planning and Implementation at the Local Level. He discussed the horizontal structure of government at the federal, provincial, and local levels. He emphasized budget planning processes and the formation and management of different committees. Likewise, Ms. Suchitra Thapa led a review of the previous year's LAMC implementation in 2023, discussing the plans and actions prioritizing the needs of marginalized groups. Mr. Rabin Nepali led a session on "advocacy for child protection and Inclusive Education" focusing on principles of child protection, inclusive education, and the rights of children with disabilities.
Both LAMC members of Mahankal and Konjyosom were supported in the formulation of the LAMC Action Plan 2024, with a focus on inclusive education, child protection, and the rights of children with disabilities. Mr. Krishna Govinda Maharjan wrapped up the session and expressed gratitude to all participants and facilitators.
