From 4 to 7 June 2025, the Monitoring team conducted a comprehensive monitoring visit across the project areas of CLEAP to assess field-level implementation and gather insights from stakeholders and beneficiaries. The monitoring team was led by Mr. Gyan Bhaka Maharjan, M&E Coordinator, and included the District Program Coordinator, the District Program Officer, and the Social Mobilization Officers. The visit aimed to assess the progress of field-level activities, meet with key stakeholders, and identify gaps in implementation. The team engaged with various stakeholders, including school teachers, SMC/PTA members, children with disabilities, OPD and LCRC members, and municipal officials.
During the visit, the team observed that educational materials were being used in classrooms and parental awareness activities had begun, but students were not fully utilizing the materials. Teachers trained under the project had only partially shared their knowledge with peers. SMC/PTA members were unaware of their code of conduct, and child protection knowledge was low among school stakeholders. In schools, the teaching approach remained largely uniform and not adapted to diverse student needs. These observations highlighted the need for more inclusive teaching methods, better utilization of resources, and increased stakeholder ownership in education improvement.
An internal monitoring visit of REAP was also carried out from May 19 to 25, 2025, by Loo Niva and Patan CBR jointly. The team conducted activities such as lobby meetings, child club interaction, field observation, interaction with the LCRCs, and child clubs. While structures like child clubs and savings groups were in place, they lacked proper planning and consistent engagement. The visit highlighted the need for better coordination, refresher training, and improved follow-up mechanisms to strengthen accessibility, education support, and child protection.
Similarly, a monitoring visit of ESP was also conducted on May 8, 2025, in Farsidol, Bungmati, Lalitpur, focusing on students at high risk of dropout. Sujil (LN 376), a Grade 5 student at Mahankal Basic School. He had been absent for two months. The monitoring team visited his home and provided counselling to him and his mother. Sujil has since returned to school and resumed his studies.
