From April 22 to 24, 2025, a special three-day training program was held at Rato Gurans Resort, Dadeldhura, focusing on child club functioning and leadership development. The event brought together 28 enthusiastic child club leaders (12 boys and 16 girls) from various schools and communities.
The main objective of the training was to help these young leaders better understand their roles in the child clubs and build skills in leadership, communication, and advocacy. The participants learned about child rights and protection, child club management, qualities of a good leader, like confidence, teamwork, empathy, and decision-making.
The training provided the platform to practice key skills such as conducting meetings, writing minutes, and planning club activities. A new and exciting topic for many was child-friendly local bodies to make sure children's voices are heard in decision-making.
At first, some children felt shy or found it difficult to understand topics like advocacy. But the facilitators made learning easier by using role plays, group discussions, and local language examples. Slowly, everyone got involved, and the energy in the room grew stronger each day.
This training was not just an event; it was the beginning of a journey for these young change makers, who returned home inspired and empowered to lead with confidence and purpose.
